LinkedIn Ads now supports server-side tagging (CAPI)

Written by:

We use LinkedIn to share milestones, find new job opportunities, or connect with industry peers. Over the years, LinkedIn has expanded its services and evolved into a highly effective tool for B2B marketing. LinkedIn Ads can be very effective, but until now, server-side conversion tracking has been missing, leading to potential data loss. That changes today.

The online social networking site, with over 750 million members, has developed a new Conversions API. With the LinkedIn Conversions API, you can send conversions in real-time directly from your tagging servers to LinkedIn’s servers.

The result? User interactions and associated data are now mapped much more accurately, even when browser-based tracking is blocked. This Server-Side Tagging feature can now be implemented for all our clients, enabling you to extract truly valuable insights from your LinkedIn marketing efforts.

The Conversions API is ideal for:

  • Enhancing your current conversion tracking: The Conversions API can be used alongside the Insight Tag to effectively measure and optimize both online and offline events throughout the customer journey.
  • A secure way to share data with LinkedIn: This is especially useful if you’re looking for a method that doesn’t rely on cookie-based tracking.

What is Server-Side Tagging again?

At 2manydots, we’re constantly implementing Server-Side Tagging for our clients. We understand the importance of complete data and strive to achieve this for our clients as well. While we’ve written several blogs on the topic, you might still be unclear about the purpose of Server-Side Tagging.

Website visitors are incredibly valuable for businesses, but due to the updated GDPR regulations, tracking these visitors is often less than optimal. Why? Browsers like Safari, Firefox, and Chrome block third-party cookies from external sources. This leads to the loss of important data, which can negatively impact your marketing campaigns. Server-Side Tagging transforms third-party cookies into first-party cookies, preventing data loss. The collected data is then sent to an external server via API connections.

Free data is becoming increasingly rare. By working with 2manydots, you can trust that the data you collect is not only accurate but also ensures you’re not overspending on campaigns. We’d be happy to assist you!
