Get complete data, even when it’s declined

In 2022, it’s no secret that we can’t function without data. Critical decisions with significant consequences for businesses are now based solely on data. But what happens if that essential data isn’t being collected—and you don’t even realize it?

Analytics is invaluable for analyzing website visitors. To make this analysis as accurate as possible, cookies are used. However, a downside of cookies is the limited visibility of data when users don’t consent to them. This results in inevitable data loss, leaving you without access to all relevant information.

Behavioral modeling
Google, however, refused to accept this issue as unavoidable. In fact, it proved once again that technology knows no limits. The world’s most widely used search engine has introduced a solution: behavioral modeling for consent mode. Google Analytics leverages Artificial Intelligence to estimate visitor behavior based on the actions of comparable users who do accept cookies.

Requirements
Don’t celebrate just yet—this innovation isn’t available for every website. Since this technology relies on comparisons, sufficient web traffic is required to produce reliable insights. For this reason, Google has outlined several prerequisites for using behavioral modeling in consent mode:

  • Consent mode must be enabled on all pages of your website.
  • At least 1,000 daily events tracked for a minimum of 7 days.
  • At least 1,000 daily users sending events with analytics_storage=’granted’ for a minimum of 7 days.

This new feature is currently most helpful for larger websites with higher visitor traffic. Whether it will become available for smaller websites in the future remains uncertain. However, one thing is clear—Google continues to innovate.
